My creative space

This week, my creativity is being used in party planning. Annabelle is turning 5 next week, and we are celebrating on Sunday with a party. All her preschool classmates have been invited. One has declined, but the rest are keen. I'm really, really, really hoping for a sunny day. I'm expecting cold, but sunny would be nice. The theme is "Fairies in the Garden", but we are only loosely using this (nowhere near as keen as the pirate theme months ago.) Today's job; party bags.

Baby, it's cold outside

Last year, at the beginning of July, I cast on as part of a Tour de France Knitalong. My project was the February Lady Sweater, famous in blogland as quick to knit, fairly modern looking cardigan.

It may well be quick, but I am certainly not. However, 11 months later, I am wearing my FLS with great satisfaction.

In other news, my persistent cough has turned out to be whooping cough. I've finished the antibiotics now, so apparently am no longer infectious. I have been moping about, feeling like Typhoid Mary, since I was coughing for weeks before going to the doctor (no fever, so no swine flu, so why bother....) Public health announcement; adults don't whoop, but they do cough and cough and cough, sometimes until they vomit.

A side-effect of this moping has been I missed the deadline for the Canberra Quilters exhibition, so have a bit more free time than I planned.

We're into the planning stages for another party. Annabelle will be 5 in a couple of weeks, and we've invited the whole preschool class. Oh, the horror!

Birthday Indulgence

In the last few days, I've celebrated another birthday, which really is an opportunity to make a 'special occasion' cake. This time, it was Nigella's Lemon Meringue Cake from Feast.

I enjoy baking cakes, but have lost a lot of my joy in eating them since becoming lactose intolerant. So this time, the cream was on the side, rather than in the middle of the cake with the lemon curd.

I was lucky enough to receive some nice presents, including Material Obsession 2 (which I'm loving far more than the first), a potato ricer (the BEST mash in the world!), and two new beads for my Pandora bracelet.

Birthday cake is directly opposed to my new philosophy of food for fuel, not for fun.

My creative space

is finally coming together. About time too.

This week, the creative spaces have a heart hidden in them. Mine's there, but may be a little hard to see. In fact, there are three. And they're appliqued.
